History

In 1974 the parents of three young girls decided the time was right to buy a family dog. Not quite sure which breed would suit their family, they searched through various books, reading up on the virtues (or otherwise!) of different breeds. The Old English Sheepdog appealed to them and seemed to be the dog they were looking for – until one day they actually met one and realised just how big they were! Back to the books! Obviously attracted to shaggy dogs, their eye was caught by the Bearded Collie and the rest, as they say, is history. They had no idea at that time just what an impact this breed would have on their lives and the lives of two of their young daughters, in particular!

A breeder was found in Northumberland – not too far from the family’s home. The breeder just happened to be Mr & Mrs Harcourt-Brown – and Orora’s Peppermint Sugar (Pepper) joined the family.

In 1976, Chauntelle Love Story – Kizzy, a wonderful, brown bundle of fun, joined the family. Kizzy was litter sister to AMCH Chauntelle Limelight and was bred by Pat Hetherington. In 1979, Kizzy was mated to Cameron (CH Sheldawyn Black Jet of Hajacan) – this mating produced Wilmarn Gemini Girl (Gemma) and Cosmic Lady of Glindura (Penny), owned and shown by Jacqui’s friend, Suzanne Whittingham (owner of Riccini Spinones). Gemma was a fantastic introduction to showing for the 15 year old Jacqui and was shown mainly at Open shows - often coming back with a 1st place card.

Jacqui was married in 1986. Looking for a smaller version of the Beardie, Jacqui took a keen interest in Tibetan Terriers and bred & showed under the affix “Jhanjra” to RCC level – with Iolanthe of Araki at Jhanjra (see below).

Nicola was granted the “Corimist” affix in 1988 - her first beardie being, Abbie (Chriscaro Carmen of Corimist). Abbie was shown successfully and gained two RCCs. She had two litters; the first in 1990 to CH Orora’s Frank. This litter produced Chrissy (Corimist Moon Crystal) who was shown sparingly but managed to gain her Stud Book number.

Sadly, Chrissy had to be spayed at an early age and therefore never produced any puppies; Sadie (Corimist Paper Moon at Shandeville), litter sister to Chrissy, was owned by Sue & Neil Wakefield and was shown successfully gaining a RCC; and Arthur (Corimist Moonshine at Orora) who was owned by Bryony Harcourt-Brown but later exported to Sweden.

Abbie’s second litter was born in 1994, sired by Potterdale Maestro at Mybeards. This mating produced Lewis (Corimist Moonstruck JW) who was shown until he was 3 ½ years old gaining his Junior Warrant.

After a “break” of 10 years, Jacqui & Nicola returned to showing in 2008.
